(Neb.)- First National Bank North Platte Seniors Fall In Season Finale
(Chadron-KCSR)- The First National Bank North Platte Nationals Post 12 Seniors lost to Scottsbluff 11-1 in 6 innings, on Wednesday night.
The bats got off to a strong start scoring a run in the top of the first inning.
Jackson Dickerson led the game off with a single to right, stole second, advances to third on a sac bunt from Mike Gieseler, and then scored on a sac fly from Jayden Stack.
Jackson's hit would end up being the only hit of the night for the Nats.
Although the FNB North Platte Nationals only had one hit, they hit several balls hard throughout the game.
Coach McLain was pleased with the quality of their at bats, "Hits are tough to come by when you play against a solid defense. We were able to put some pressure on and ran the bases extremely well."
The FNB North Platte Nationals Post 12 Seniors did have a couple defensive miscues including a couple of errors and a bases loaded play at the plate ruled a Scottsbluff run.
The defensive highlight of the night for the Nationals was Jackson Dickerson throwing a Scottsbluff runner out at the plate for the final out of the fourth inning.
Dylan Zellers control on the mound was better than his previous starts.
Coach McLain noted, " he seems to be finding his groove just in time for districts", the seniors are off until the opening round of districts Friday, July 18th at Alliance.
They open the tournament against the four seed, host team, Alliance Spartans.
