(Neb.)- First National Bank North Platte Seniors Split With Alliance
(Chadron-KCSR)- The FNB North Platte Nationals Post 12 seniors split again on Sunday with Alliance, losing game one 4 to 0 and winning game two 10-7.
The First National Bank North Platte Nationals defense and pitching did well in game one. Jayden Stack allowed only 1 earned run in his 6 inning of work on the mound.
A couple timely errors did hurt the Nats.
At the plate, the Nationals were not able to get anything going. In game one they only recorded 3 hits- singles from Stack, Marc Fernandez, and Colby Ellis.
Game two was much the same but the FNB North Platte Nationals were able to put pressure on the Alliance Spartans with good base running.
The Nationals scored 10 runs on only five hits.
Coach McLain said, "we did a great job of taking advantage of several free passes."
Andrew Smith recorded his first career win as he threw the first four innings, however, Smith did give up 7 runs.
Coach McLain said, " I think it was a great learning experience for him and the majority of our team. Smith did a good job of throwing strikes. I keep telling our guys good things happen when you throw the ball in the strike zone." Colby Ellis did a phenomenal job in relief. He took over the mound in the fifth inning and did not allow a run. He only allowed two guys on base.
The First National Bank North Platte Seniors are on the road on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Juniors tournament starts on Friday in Chadron.
