(Neb.)-Eagles Outlast Mustangs
CHADRON - Kattie Ranta claimed her 10th double-double of the season with 22 points and 17 rebounds to lead the Chadron State women's basketball team to a 74-68 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference win over Western New Mexico Saturday at Armstrong Gymnasium.
Also for Chadron State, Kayli Rageth recorded her fourth double-double adding 16 points and 10 rebounds and Dallas Shaw chipped in 12 points and three boards.
Chadron State shot 75 percent from the free throw line to build a 24-22 lead in the first half. The Eagles' offense propelled it through the rest of the game as they lead by three or more points for the remainder of the game.
With 30 seconds on the clock, Western New Mexico's Nalani Hernandez hit a jumper to cut the game to 71-68, but Hattie Guzman and Rageth responded with sank three of four foul shots to seal the game.
Chadron made 20 of 50 shots from the field and also hit 30 of 38 shots from the foul line and limited Western New Mexico to 38 percent from the field and 43 percent from the charity stripe.
With its second-consecutive win, Chadron is now 3-12 overall (3-8 RMAC) and Western New Mexico falls to 7-10 overall (4-8 RMAC).
Chadron will look to keep its momentum as it travels to face CSU-Pueblo and UC-Colorado Spring next weekend.
