(Neb.)-Hooper nearing 2,000 point mark
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Jordan Hooper is on the verge of joining some elite company in the history of the Nebraska women's basketball program.
The senior forward is within 10 points of reaching 2,000 for her career. The 18th-ranked Cornhuskers' next game is against Minnesota on Thursday night in Lincoln.
Hooper said Wednesday she's more focused on winning than achieving individual milestones. She's averaging better than 20 points and 10 rebounds. Coach Connie Yori said Hooper's game has evolved greatly since she arrived at Nebraska from Alliance, Neb.
The only players to have reached 2,000 points at Nebraska are Karen Jennings, Maurtice Ivy and Kelsey Griffin.
The Huskers (12-3, 2-1) are in a four-way tie for second place behind Michigan State in the Big Ten after being voted the preseason favorite.
