(Neb.)-Lady Cardinals downed by St. Thomas More
St. Thomas More shot 15 free throws in the second half and made seven total three pointers to defeat the Chadron girls 66-59 on Tuesday night.
The teams played evenly in the first half and were tied at 20 after one period. Chadron got its first and only lead midway through the second quarter and was up by five when St. Thomas More's leading scorer, Alexys Swedlund, went to the bench with three fould. The Lady Cardinals weren't able to capitalize and St. Thomas More took a three point lead to the locker room.
The Lady Cavaliers pushed Chadron in the second half, but the Lady Cardinals kept it within three possessions for most of the game. St. Thomas More's lead got as big as 12 in the fourth quarter before Chadron went on a run that included two Ashlea Kerr triples to cut the margin to four. St. Thomas More made its free throws down the stretch and Chadron ran out of time to lose by seven.
Ashlea Kerr led Chadron with 21 points and Peyton Hinn added 15. St. Thomas More had three players in double figures with 21 points from Swedlund and 18 each from Ciara and Moira Duffy.
Chadron's next game will be Friday when both the boys and girls host Alliance.
