CHADRON – Garrett Gilkey, a former All-American offensive lineman at Chadron State College and a current player for the NFL's Cleveland Browns, will sign autographs and take photos with fans at the Bean Broker in downtown Chadron Sunday, Jan. 19.
The event, which is free of charge, is from 1 to 4 p.m.
"I'm really excited to come back to Chadron and show the people there how significant they were to my experience as a college athlete," Gilkey said. "I'm looking forward to seeing a lot of friendly faces."
Gilkey, a 6-foot-6, 320-pound native of Sandwich, Ill., was a three-year starter for the Eagles and he also played a season of college basketball. He became the first Chadron State College athlete to be drafted in the NFL since Don Beebe, who was his high school football coach, when the Browns picked him in the seventh round of the 2013 Draft. He started one game and appeared in five others during his rookie season in Cleveland.
