(Neb.)-Chadron drops match in Sidney

By: Andrew Lacy Posted at: 10/16/2013 10:14 AM
The Chadron volleyball team fell behind early and lost in five sets Tuesday night in Sidney.

Sidney got out to an early lead and won the first two sets 25-22, 25-20. Chadron battled back from the 0-2 hole and won the third and fourth sets 25-20, 25-19, to force a decisive fifth set. But Sidney came out on top 17-15.

Coach Don Matt said Chadron has had issues starting slow lately and it cost them this time. He said the serve receive was a problem at times and the team made too many mistakes to overcome against a good team like Sidney.

Ashlea Kerr led the team with 14 kills. Chandler Hageman had 13, along with 12 digs and seven ace blocks. Maaryn Davis had 12 kills and 14 digs and Jadyn McCartney had six serve aces along with her six kills.

The loss is just Chadron's second of the season. They'll look to bounce back Saturday at the Valentine Invite.
