By: Andrew Lacy Posted at: 10/12/2013 10:47 AM
The Chadron cross country team had the top two finishers in both the boys and girls races Thursday at the Sidney Invite.

Philip Duncan (18:11) was the top finisher in the boys race with Alec Burk (18:16) finishing just behind him for second. Seth Sloan (19:47) also earned a medal for the Cardinals finishing in 10th. Chadron took second in the boys team standings, getting narrowly beaten by Alliance.

The Chadron girls were even better, winning the team competition with four runners in the top ten. Kiya Passero (21:36) led the way with a first place finishe and Greta Welch (22:32) was second. Julianne Dickerson (22:44) was also solid, taking fourth place and Veronica Parish (23:10) placed ninth.

Coach John Girard was thrilled with how both teams ran. He said the seniors finished the right way with all of them earning medals. The girls have now won five of their last six meets. Girard says the team has great momentum heading into the district meet Thursday in Ogallala.
