(Neb.)-Three Chadron runners medal at Western Conference

By: Andrew Lacy Posted at: 10/07/2013 08:26 PM
Three Chadron runners earned medals Monday afternoon at the Western Conference Cross Country Meet at Oregon Trail Park in Gering.

The race was originally planned to be held Saturday on the Chadron State course, but Friday's blizzard forced the event to be postponed to Monday. The meet was moved from Chadron to Gering on Sunday when the CSC course was determined to not be in usable condition.

Two Chadron girls earned medals in the varsity race with freshmen Greta Welch in sixth (22:18) and Lesley Zepeda eighth (22:51).

Phillip Duncan took a medal for the Cardinals boys with an eight place finish (18:30).

Chadron finished third in the team standings for girls, fifth for the girls.

Chadron won the JV girls race with Kiya Passero taking first and Veronica Parish, Kyla Parish and Tatum Westemeier also finishing in the top ten.

The next race will be Thursday in Sidney.
