The Chadron girls golf team took second place at districts in Ogallala Monday to earn a trip next week's state tournament.

Cali Crile led the way for the Lady Cardinals by breaking 90 for the first time ever with an 89 that put her in second place on the leaderboard. Kortney Hageman also earned a medal by finishing in eighth place at 100.

Haleigh Shuck struggled on the first nine but rebounded to post a 108. Coach Curt Holmquist said he wanted the seniors to be around 300 as a trio and they responded with a 297.

Holmquist said he wanted the underclassmen around 140 and freshman Ahlaura Pourier shot exactly that. Sophomore Brooke Roes rounded out the scoring at 153.

Chadron's team score of 437 was good enough to beat Bridgeport for second by one shot. Kimball was the district champion with a team score of 427 and Kimball's Brooke Hagar was the top individual at 87.

The Class C state tournament will be Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 14-15 at Quail Run Golf Course in Columbus.
