(Neb.)-Troester named to academic all-America team
The academic accolades continue to roll in for Chadron State College's Kelly Troester. On Wednesday, Troester, a senior from Marsland, was named to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-America Division II Men's Track and Cross Country Third Team as selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Troester, who has a 3.98 grade-point average while majoring in rangeland management, was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Summit Award winner for both the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons after having the best GPA at the conference championships. He was also a two-time selection to the RMAC All-Academic First Team in track and field and he was a second team choice on the cross country team in 2011.
Troester, who graduated from Crawford High School, is just the fourth Chadron State College track and field student-athlete to earn Academic All-American honors. The others were Stacie Koehler in 2001 and Joel Duffield and Jacqueline Wells in 2006.
The Men's Academic All-American of the Year is Central Missouri's Brent Vogel. The Women's Academic All-American of the Year is Grand Valley State's Kristen Hixson.
