(Wyo.)-Wyoming football field gets new turf
LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — Wyoming is replacing the playing surface at War Memorial Stadium.
Installation of a new FieldTurf surface will be completed this week. FieldTurf is used in 22 of 32 NFL stadiums as well as college programs including Arizona, Illinois, Iowa, Louisville, Missouri, Nebraska, Oregon, Texas, Texas A&M, USC and Washington.
UW athletics director Tom Burman said the old Jonah Field surface that was installed in 2005 was deteriorating.
When fans look down from the bleachers and watch Cowboy football this season, the playing surface will look drastically different.
The end zones will have an artistic rendering of the Teton Mountain Range, and the words "7,220 Feet" will also be printed on each sideline.
The project costs roughly $500,000 and is paid for by private donations.
