(Neb.)-Humphries signs with CSC softball
CHADRON – Zoe Humphries, a senior at Arvada West High School, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play softball at Chadron State College, head coach Rob Stack announced.
“Zoe is a tremendous softball player with good athleticism and outstanding academic credentials,” said Stack, who has coached the Eagles since 2007. “Her potential to be an immediate contributor to our program is exciting and she strengthens our catching corps and has the ability to hit for power.”
Humphries, a catcher and third baseman, was a two-time all-conference performer and was named her team’s best defensive and offensive player in successive years. As a senior, she hit .375, had an on-base percentage of .487, slugging percentage of .844 and a fielding percentage of .957.
She also played basketball and was a two-time academic all-state selection.
Humphries joins four other softball student-athletes who signed NLIs for the Eagles in the fall. Three of those four are from Colorado, while Taylor Bauer is a high school senior from Rapid City, S.D.
The Colorado signees are Bekka Prokaski of Broomfield, Morgan Wilhelm of Littleton and Courtney Lecher of Fort Collins.
Chadron State finished its 2013 season with a 14-24 record, including a 12-19 mark in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
