(Neb.)-NU Women's Bowling Wins Fourth National Title
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - The Nebraska women's bowling team has won its fourth national title.
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln squad defeated Vanderbilt Saturday in the title match in Canton, Mich.
Junior Yan Ling led the Huskers in the title match with nine strikes and no empty frames. The team title is decided in a format where each team member bowls two frames, and the winning team wins the most games in a best-of-seven series.
Nebraska coach Bill Straub says his team held together well even when they got behind in the match.
Women's bowling has been an NCAA-sanctioned sport since 2003. Nebraska won national titles in 2004, 2005, 2009 and now this year.
