The Chadron girls basketball overcame a slow start to beat Gordon-Rushville in the first round of subdistricts Tuesday, 56-29.
The Lady Cardinals didn't score their first basket until a Jazzy McLain three pointer nearly halfway through the first quarter as Gordon-Rushville built an early lead.
Chadron tied the game at seven late in the first, then went on a 22-1 run to take a 29-8 lead at halftime. The Lady Cardinals never looked back on their way to another blowout win.
Briley Hannaford led the way for Chadron with 16 points. Alia Brennan added 11, including 9 of 10 at the free throw line.
Chadron will play Kimball in the subdistrict final Thursday night in Alliance. Kimball advanced by beating Mitchell Tuesday, 54-52.
