GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—The No. 7 ranked Colorado Mesa State women’s basketball team improved its record to 20-1 Saturday night by overwhelming Chadron State 82-37 in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference game in Grand Junction.

The Lady Mavericks held a 53-11 halftime lead after making 19 of 35 field goal attempts and Chadron State hit only two of 26.

Mesa outscored the Eagles by just 29-26 in the second half.

Four Mesa players scored in double figures, led by senior guard Katrina Selsor with 18 points.  She also had a game-high 11 rebounds. Laurel Kasel, a freshman guard, sank four of seven 3-point shots while finishing with 14 points.

Kattie Ranta with nine points and Kate Simonton with eight paced the Eagles in scoring. Junior center Greer Babbe blocked six Mesa shots.

Besides shooting well from the field, the Mavericks also made 16 of 18 free throws. Chadron State was 18 of 23 from the line, but was just one of 16 from behind the arc.

The Eagles will conclude their home schedule this coming weekend, when Colorado Christian and Colorado Mines will visit.
