(Neb.)-CSC track team to compete at Air Force Academy Meet
CHADRON – About 55 Chadron State College track and field athletes will participate in an indoor meet hosted by the U.S. Air Force Academy near Colorado Springs this week.
Several Eagles will compete in the multi-events Thursday and Friday while the rest of the team will be in the regular competition Saturday.
Coach Ryan Baily said the Eagles have worked hard to get into condition since the second semester began on Jan. 7.
He noted there’ll be lots of competition at the meet. All the Colorado Division I teams—University of Colorado, Colorado State and Northern Colorado—along with the University of Wyoming and several of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams, including perennial power Adams State, are entered.
The Eagles have not competed since Dec. 8, when they shined at the Black Hills State Holiday Meet when they won 15 events.
Sprinter Alex Graham automatically qualified for Division II National Indoor Meet while winning the 60 meters in 6.75 seconds and five more athletes provisionally qualified for the national meet.
One of the five, freshman Skyler Hoopes of Lusk, set the CSC men’s pole vault record when he cleared 15-5.
