The Chadron girls struggled to shoot the ball all night Saturday, but made up for it with tough defense to beat Mitchell, 56-17.
The Lady Cardinals got an early lead, going up 13-4 after the first quarter before putting Mitchell's offense in lockdown. The Lady Tigers didn't score a basket in the second quarter until there were 57 seconds remaining in the period, and Chadron went to the locker room with a 26-8 lead.
Things only got worse for Mitchell as they were outscored 26-2 in the third quarter en route to a 39 point shellacking. The Lady Cardinals forced Mitchell to commit nearly 40 turnovers in the game.
Though Chadron didn't shoot the ball well, three players did finish in double figure scoring, lead by 14 from Ashlea Kerr. Peyton Hinn added 13 points and Briley Hannaford scored 10.
Chadron's next game will be Friday, Jan. 11 at Alliance.
