By: Andrew Lacy Posted at: 12/18/2012 04:01 PM Fresh off the program's first-ever RMAC Championship, as well as its fourth-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament, the Colorado School of Mines volleyball team signed five student-athletes to National Letters of Intent to join the program in the fall of 2013, as announced on Friday by head coach Jamie Skadeland.
Among the signees was Ashlyn Eitemiller, a 5-10 outside hitter from Chadron High. Eitemiller is on her way to becoming a three-sport, four-year varsity letter winner for the Cardinals. She earned First Team Western Conference honors as well as All-State recognition from the Omaha World Herald and the Lincoln Journal Star.
Eitemiller holds several school records, including kills in a season (359), kills in a career (1,002), season attack percentage (.420), service aces in a game (17), service aces in a season (75) and service aces in a career (197). She also earned First Team Western Conference Scholar-Athlete laurels and earned a spot on the NSAA Academic All-State Volleyball Team.
Skadeland said, "Ashlyn is going to have a great career here at CSM. She is extremely hard-working and coachable. I think Ashlyn will catch on to our offensive and defensive system quickly. She will be a great leader by example."
Eitemiller was one of five seniors who helped Chadron to a 27-4 record this season and a trip to the state tournament.
