By: Dennis and Kathi Brown Posted at: 12/15/2012 09:59 PM
DENVER – Grant Stone scored 15 points, Kendrick Holliman sank all 10 of his free throws and the Chadron State College men’s basketball team earned its first victory of the season over Regis 71-62 Saturday in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference game.

The Eagles, who trailed by as many as eight points in the first half, finished the game aggressively. In the second half, CSC took 25 foul shots and made 18 of them to pull away from the Rangers. The Eagles were also clicking offensively from the field, sinking 10 of 19 in the final 20 minutes.

In addition to Holliman and Stone, six other Eagles scored at least six points. Justyn Anderson, Kyle Vinich, Dominique Watkins, Brandon Pippenger and Michael Safer each scored six and Zac Bargen, who fouled out in nine minutes, finished with seven.

Chadron State also edged Regis in rebounding. Stone and Taylor each had six apiece to lead CSC and the Eagles finished with 33 compared to 31 for Regis.

Demetrius Owens led Regis with 21 points.

The Eagles will play at Metro State today (Sunday). Tip-off is set for 5 p.m.
