(Neb.)-CSC Women To Host Yellowjackets
CHADRON – After playing two exhibition games on the road, the Chadron State College women’s basketball team will open its regular season at 3 p.m. on Sunday by hosting Montana State-Billings in Armstrong Gymnasium.
The same teams met in last year’s season-opener in Billings with the Yellowjackets winning 77-50 after outscoring CSC 38-19 in the second half.
Billings finished last season with an 18-12 record. Four starters return from that team, led by 5-foot-8 Bobbi Knudsen, who averaged 17.8 points.
Knudsen led the way with 18 points and nine rebounds Friday night when the Yellowjackets defeated the University of Great Falls 64-52 in an exhibition game in Billings.
The Jackets’ other returning starters are 5-11 Quinn Peoples, 5-10 Janiel Olson and 6-1 Kayleen Goggins.
Chadron State’s only fulltime returning starter from last year is 6-0 center Sadie Waugh, who did not start, but played, in the two exhibition games.
Coach Tim Connealy’s starters in the exhibition game against the Air Force Academy on Monday night where 6-3 Greer Babbe, 5-9 Hattie Guzman, 5-10 Jazmin Lopez, 6-0 Kattie Ranta and 5-8 Dallas Shaw.
Lisa Durden, a 5-7 guard who started but played just nine minutes against in the exhibition game at Brigham Young, did not play against the Air Force Academy.
After the home date with Billings, the Eagles’ next action will be Friday and Saturday, Nov. 16 and 17 against Colorado Christian and Lubbock Christian in the Holiday Inn Select Classic in Denver.
Billings will play at Black Hills State at 7 p.m. Saturday en route to play the Eagles on Sunday afternoon
