(Neb.)-Chadron volleyball advances to district final

By: Andrew Lacy Posted at: 10/31/2012 09:14 AM
The Chadron volleyball team was a bit inconsistent but got the job done to win their subdistrict Tuesday night in Alliance.

The Lady Cardinals opened the night with a straight set win over Gordon-Rushville, 25-14, 25-15, 25-19. Ashlea Kerr was solid with 10 kills and Ashlyn Eitemiller added seven.

Chadron played up and down in the subdistrict final against Mitchell. The team got off to a good start, winning the second set, 25-13. The Cards struggled in the second set, losing 25-16. Chadron rallied in the fourth set, winning 25-20 and got back on a roll to win the fourth, 25-18.

Eitemiller came up huge in the final set, finishing the match with 24 kills and 11 digs. Alia Brennan added 12 kills and Maggie Earney had 47 assists.

Head Coach Don Matt said his teams serving and serve receive were a little sporadic, especially against Mitchell. He though the girls pulled together after losing the second set of that match and were able to run the offense more consistently to get the win.

The Cardinals will play Ogallala for the district final in Bayard Friday night at 7 p.m. on AM 610 KCSR
