(Neb.)-Bila takes second at Pitch, Hit and Run
(Kansas City)-Chadron's Coy Bila took second place in the 11-12 year old division at the MLB Pitch, Hit and Run national competition.
The competition consists of three events: hitting a ball as straight as possible off a tee, pitching at a major league strike zone from 45 feet away and running the bases as quickly as possible.
According to Bila's mother, Robin, Coy won the hitting and running portions and missed out on winning by one pitch.
The competition was held prior to Monday night's Home Run Derby in Kansas City. Competitors also shagged fly balls during the Derby and will attend tonight's All-Star Game.
Bila earned his spot in the national finals by winning the local competition in Chadron and the regional competition in Rapid City. Regional winners then competed at each major league ballpark. Bila won his age group at Coors Field in Denver and was one of the top three in division nationwide. More than 685,000 youths participated across North America.
