(Neb.) - Chadron tracksters compete in
The Chadron track team sent a handful of individuals to the "Best in the West" track meet in Scottsbluff on Tuesday. The meet qualifies the top track athletes from western Nebraska and eastern Wyoming.
On the girls side Carly Churchill launched the Shot Put 37' 9" to finish fourth. She set a personal best by over two feet with the effort. Ashlyn Eitemiller finished seventh in the 400 meter dash with a time of 64.50, while Ashlea Kerr ran the 800 meter dash in 2:30.03 to finish fifth. The girls 4x400 meter relay team consisting of Jamie McLain, Ashlyn Eitemiller, Briley Hannaford and Ashlea Kerr was good enough for fourth. The 4x800 meter relay won the event with a time of 10:13:39. The team is made up of Eitemiller, Kerr, Hannaford and Nicky Applegarth.
Tyson Budler earned second place in the shot put for the boys with a toss of 51' 9". Wade Reeves was second in the high jump and triple jump on the day. He cleared 6' 4" in the high jump, while setting a personal best in the triple jump with a leap of 44 feet. Geoff Ledbetter improved his personal best in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:49.64. The time was good enough for sixth place.
The track team travels to Sidney on Saturday for the Western Conference meet with districts just around the corner on May 10 at Gothenburg.
