(Neb)-U-S Supreme Court Justice Gives Oath To State Justice
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Omaha attorney Jonathan Papik is now officially the newest member of the Nebraska Supreme Court and its youngest member ever at age 36.
Papik may also have taken the oath of office from one of the most distinguished individuals to fill that role - U.S. Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch, who says Papik, his former law clerk, has a natural judicial temperament.
Papik was appointed by Gov. Pete Ricketts to replace Justice Max Kelch, who resigned after less than two years on the bench following an ethics complaint. He will represent the 4th Judicial District, which includes portions of Douglas and Sarpy counties.
Papik is a graduate of Harvard Law School and a partner at one of Nebraska's top law firms - Cline Williams Wright Johnson & Oldfather for nearly eight years.
