(Wyo)-Buchanan Running For Sec Of State
TORRINGTON, Wyo. (AP) - Wyoming Secretary of State Ed Buchanan of Torrington, appointed to the post less than 2 months ago, says he's now running to keep the job he failed to win in the election 4 years ago.
Buchanan, a former speaker of the Wyoming House, is so far unopposed for the Republican nomination while State Representative James Byrd of Cheyenne is unopposed for the Democrats.
Buchanan, an attorney, tells the Wyoming Tribune Eagle his priorities as secretary of state include using technology to make Wyoming more business-friendly.
Gov. Matt Mead appointed Buchanan secretary of state in March following the resignation of Ed Murray after 2 women accused Murray of unwanted sexual contact 3 decades ago, allegations Murray denies.
