(Neb)-Litmited Damage And No Injuries From Doniphan Tornado
DONIPHAN, Neb, (AP) - A tornado struck the south-central Nebraska town of Doniphan just after 5:00 Tuesday afternoon, but caused relatively light damage.
Hall County Emergency Management Director Jon Rosenlund told the Grand Island Independent that the tornado touched down about 2 miles south of town and traveled to the southern end of the community before going back up and dissipating.
Pfannkuch said it wasn't on the ground very long and that the only building that was destroyed was a shed, although homes and businesses suffered damage to roofs, siding, and windows. Equipment in the shed was also damaged, but no injuries were reported and no one was displaced.
The National Weather Service has not classified the tornado for intensity, saying only that it spun out of a line of severe storms producing hail, high winds and heavy rain. The agency issued 7 tornado warnings from the storm.
