(Neb)-Composer Reception Moved To 11:30 Sat Morning
CHADRON - The Chadron State College music department is holding a public reception today starting at 11:30 in the Memorial Hall lobby for Nebraska composer David von Kampen.
Von Kampen's "Three Nebraska Lyrics" was commissioned for CSC and will have its world premiere tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 during a joint concert of the Chadron State and Chadron Community choirs.
The reception was originally planned for yesterday at 5:00, but had to be cancelled when the college closed for the day in anticipation of the major snowstorm that didn't reach Chadron.
Von Kampen was already scheduled to rehearse the two choirs this morning, making 11:30 a convenient time for the reception.
An anonymous gift to Chadron State to commission a new choral work for the school led to the selection of von Kampen and he chose 3 poems by Nebraska poet Becky Boesen for the work.
A third group, the Ogallala High School choir, will join the CSC Concert Choir and the Community Choir for the premiere tomorrow. The concert begins at 3:00 in the Memorial Hall Auditorium and is free and open to the public.
