(Neb)-School Grants 2.5% Raise To Non-Certified Employees Listen
CHADRON - The Chadron School Board on Monday night approved a 2.5% pay raise for non-certified employees, which include Para-Educators, Building Secretaries, and Administrative Office Staff.
Board President Tom Menke says the increase, similar to those granted other employees, came out of very positive negotiations and is good for the employees and for the district.
The 2.5% increase in base pay starts para-educators out at $11.26 an hour and peaks after 15 years at $15.91. Secretaries working on 10-month contracts have a range of $11.51 to $16.26 while secretaries on 12-month contracts will get between $11.76 and $16.62.
Specialized training resulting in a certification or verification of completed in-depth training equivalent to a certification brings an addition 25-cent per hour with a 2-year college degree or credits equivalent to that increases the hourly salary by 50-cents while a 4-year degree bumps it a full dollars.
Employees with more than 15 years experience and who have topped out on the wage scale will receive the wage increase determined by the school board and a one-year step increase. Those with more than 15 years with the district get a "floating birthday holiday" while 20 years bring an additional day to be used during Christmas break. Neither carries over to the following year.
