(Wyo)-UW Trustees Won't Release Presidential Performance Review
By: John Axtell Posted at: 04/04/2018 11:49 PM LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - The University of Wyoming Board of Trustees says it does not plan to publicly release the details of its external evaluator's performance review of President Laurie Nichols, but the school's faculty thinks that's a bad idea.
Trustees President John MacPherson says "Personnel matters are confidential by state statute," but Faculty Senate Chair Michael Barker says at least part of the review should be made public so the university community can know the results.
Part of the review process for Nichols was open to the public, including a day in February when members of the university community were invited to share their thoughts on her performance with evaluator Steve Portch, the former chancellor of Georgia's 34-campus university system. This was the first time the university used an external evaluator to review the president.
