(Wyo)-VA Downgrades Cheyenne Hospital, No Changes In Services
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - The VA has downgraded the complexity level of its Cheyenne hospital to the agency's lowest level, prompting the state's congressional delegation to demand an explanation.
The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reported Saturday the VA Medical Center in Cheyenne is now rated at Level 3, indicating it has. It had been Level 2.
The state's three-member congressional delegation wrote VA Secretary David Shulkin, complaining that they weren't consulted about the rating change from Level 2 to Level 3 and are concerned it will result in reduced funding and services.
Cheyenne VA Medical Center Director Paul Roberts said the Level 3 rating, indicating the lowest level of patient complexity with little or no teaching and research, has no affect on patient care or services. As for pay, current VA employees aren't affected but will be lower for new executives.
