(Neb)-Video Wins Chadron Hospital $7K Listen
CHADRON - Chadron Community Hospital and Health Services yesterday was presented with a $7,000 check from Athena Health for placing 2nd in the electronic health records company's My Hospital, My Community.
The hospital had entered a video parody of the 12 Days of Christmas title The 12 Days of Illness featuring more than a dozen staffers with vocals by the daughter of friend of one staffer and video by the daughter of another.
Athena Health Vice President Chad Turner says the company started to the competition to increase awareness of the unique challenges by rural Critical Access Hospitals, which have 25 beds or fewer.
Turner, who is based in Denver, says the contest was open to all small rural hospitals, whether they're customers of Athena Health or, like Chadron Community, not.
Turner says a selection committee narrowed the total to a group of finalists with a random drawing determining the various awards, but he thinks the Chadron Community video would have won as the most creative had the judging been done that way.
Turner says the idea behind the entire contest program is to give Athena Health more material to take to decision makers in support of community hospitals.
The top prize in the My Hospital, My Community program is $10,000.
