(Neb)-Chadron Woman Arrested Following DUI Hit-And-Run
CHADRON - A Chadron woman was arrested early Thursday morning for a drunk driving hit-and-run accident just off Main Street in a residential neighborhood of Chadron.
29-year old Jaquleyn Mousseaux is charged with 1st-offense DUI, careless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, open container, and fictitious plates.
Chadron police Lt Rick Hickstein says dispatchers received a call about 2:30 a-m from a woman who said she'd heard a loud crashing noise, looked outside, and saw that her parked car had been hit and that the other vehicle was still there.
Responding officers found the second car unoccupied, but also found a third vehicle whose driver said she'd seen the accident and that the driver, who she knew, had run to a house a block over.
Lt Hickstein says the officers found a small amount of blood at the scene and were able to follow a trail of small drops of blood to the same house identified by the witness.
They knocked and identified themselves, but no one came to the door so they obtained a search warrant and made a forced entry into the house where they found Mousseaux.
Hickstein, who had responded to the scene after the initial response, says a field sobriety test indicated Mousseaux was over the legal limit and she was taken into custody.
Mousseaux was processed at the Dawes County Jail and released on bond.
