(Neb)-Band Rib Fundraiser Continuing With Frozen Vacuum-Sealed Cooked Ribs
CHADRON - Chadron Public Schools band director Joe Rischling says the band program's rib fundraiser isn't quite over yet, but is now focused on those who'd like to eat smoked ribs sometime in the future.
To fill the demand of the original orders last month, Rischling bought a third case of ribs - which left him with well over 30 extra racks of cooked ribs after the initial orders were picked up Saturday.
Rischling says he sold a few refrigerated ribs Sunday, then put the rest in vacuum-sealed bags and froze them so that buyers could use them anytime in the future that they'd like - although he's still hoping to sell them as soon as possible.
The cost is $25 for a full rack of 10 ribs and the reduced price of 3 racks for $60. Orders may be made by calling Rischling at 308-430-3595.
The money from the rib sale will be used to support the band program in a number of ways including college scholarships, instrument repair or replacement, music, and travel expenses for out-of- town performances or competitions.
Rischling estimates the fundraiser has already brought in about $3,000.
He also says donations to the band program are welcomed year-round through the Chadron Public Schools Foundation. More information is available by calling the school district office at 308-432-0700.
