(SD)-Black Hills Inmate Dies After Illness
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The South Dakota Corrections department says a state prison inmate from the Black Hills died Thursday night after a lengthy illness.
45-year old Scott Richards was in a comfort care setting at the South Dakota State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls. Under prison policy, an autopsy will be conducted even though Richards was under medical care.
Richards was sentenced in 2015 to serve more than 22 years on a pair of convictions from Pennington County after a judge suspended half of a 10-year term for drug possession and 7-1/2 years of a 25-year sentence for escape.
