(Neb)-Red Willow County Fire Claims 3 Lives
INDIANOLA, Neb. (AP)- Authorities in southwest Nebraska say 3 people died early yesterday morning in a house fire just south of Indianola in Red Willow County.
Indianola Fire Chief Tom Davidson says four people lived in the home and only one was able to escape. Names have not been released and officials say autopsies will be needed to confirm identities as well as causes of death
Chief Davidson says crews responding to a call shortly after midnight found a single-story house 1 -1/2 miles south of Indianola engulfed with flames coming through the roof.
The Indianola, McCook and Red Willow fire departments all turned out and spent most of 18 hours battling the fire, with Davidson saying cold temperatures made it difficult for firefighters.
The Nebraska State Fire Marshal's Office has joined the Red Willow County Sheriff's Office in investigating the fire, but no cause has yet been released.
