(Neb)-Parade Of Lights, Festival Of Trees, CSC Holiday Concert All Tonight
CHADRON - It's here! The 2017 KCSR/KBPY Parade of Lights through downtown Chadron is tonight at 6:30, running down Main Street from 1st to the Dawes County Courthouse.
This year's theme is Peace On Earth and the parade will be broadcast of KBPY because of a conflict on KCSR with NFL football
Although the deadline for entries was yesterday for those wanting to be eligible for the cash prizes being award for the top 3 floats, non-eligible entries will be accepted all the way until lining up for the parade begins at 5:30.
Reigning over the Parade of Lights is normally the Snow Princess, but this year's there are two Snow Princesses. Bristol Prado and Josselyn Mousseau.were selected from among 13 entrants ages 6-to-11.
There are two other events more or less in conjunction with the Parade of Lights. One is an open house at the Dawes County Courthouse from 5:00-7:00 for the annual Festival of Trees.
The County Commissioners and county employees will have cookies and beverages in the commissioner's room for those coming in to enjoy the trees decorated by local groups and businesses as a fund raiser for Fur Trade Days.
The other event is the annual Chadron State College Music Department Holiday Concert at 7:30 in Memorial Hall featuring the College Concert Choir and the college Wind Ensemble and Community Band.
The choir will open the concert, followed by the combined bands. It concludes with a Christmas Carol Sing-a-long led by the choir and the bands. Attendees will be greeted by music in the Memorial Hall lobby starting around 7:00 as a lead-in to the concert itself.
