(Neb)-NSP Busy During "Click It Or Ticket"
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - The Nebraska State Patrol has released its numbers from the national Click It or Ticket seat enforcement campaign that ran Thanksgiving week.
State Patrol troopers made contact with nearly 5,000 drivers for various reasons over the 7 days and arrested 33 for Driving Under the Influence and 2 others for Drugged Driving.
They also issued 1,175 citations for Speeding, 78 for No Seat Belt, 58 for Driving Under Suspension, 30 for No Proof of Insurance, 29 for Open Container of Alcohol, and 10 for Improper Child Safety Restraint.
Troopers also assisted 213 motorists in need of help, made 62 arrests for drug possession, apprehended 14 fugitives, and recovered a stolen vehicle.
The Click It or Ticket enforcement effort saw the State Patrol and more than 50 local agencies receive grants from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety to cover the overtime costs of putting more officers on the road. The Patrol's grant was $18,000.
