(Neb)-Power Shut Down In Whitney For House Moving
WHITNEY - Nebraska Public Power District and Northwest Rural Public Power District say that all power in the village of Whitney and some of the surrounding area was shut down this morning to allow a house to be moved.
NPPD spokesman Mark Becker says the mover had made arrangements with Northwest Rural to clear powerlines, then discovered this morning the house was 18" higher than listed on the application.
Becker says that as a result, the powerline serving Whitney had to be dropped and power cut to safely accommodate the move. That decision, though, wasn't made and made public until about an hour before the power was cut off.
Becker says both utilities appreciate the understanding and forebearance of customers affected by the Whitney outage, which began about 9:30.
