(Neb)-Chadron Schools Switching Elevator Maintenance Provider Listen
CHADRON - The Chadron School Board has decided to change vendors for servicing the district's elevators after several years, and they picked the higher of the 2 bids.
Board President Tom Menke says the proposal from O'Keefe Elevator of Omaha is $5,000 per year compared to $4,200 for current contract holder Kone Inc of Sioux Falls, each offering 4 maintenance calls a year, but is still a better deal for the Chadron district.
Superintendent Dr Caroline Winchester had recommended the switch, citing performance and red tape issues with Kone as well as the company's unwillingness to put its agreement to some changes in writing.
Three of the Chadron district's 4 schools are multi-level and have a total of 5 lifts...2 at the high school and Intermediate School - the former Kenwood Elementary - and one at the Middle School with one full elevator at each of those schools.
