(Neb)-Two Northern Hills Papers To Cease Publication

By: John Axtell Posted at: 11/03/2017 10:52 PM
RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - Two northern Black Hills-area weekly newspapers, the Meade County Times-Tribune and the Butte County Post, will publish their final issue next Wednesday and will be replaced the next day by a daily Northern Hills page in the Rapid City Journal.

All 3 papers are owned by Lee Enterprises, which also owns The Chadron Record and Hot Springs Star, with the smaller papers managed by the Journal.  Publisher Eugene Jackson says shutting down the two papers is aimed at "maximizing our resources."

The new Northern Hills page will cover the towns of Sturgis, Belle Fourche, Lead, Deadwood and Spearfish, as well as smaller communities in the region. Meade County Times-Tribune Editor Deb Holland will anchor the coverage.
