(Neb)-New Appeals Judge Confirmed
WASHINGTON, D.C.(AP) - The U.S. Senate has overwhelmingly approved a North Dakota judge to serve on the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, which handles appeals from federal courts in 7 states that include Nebraska and the Dakotas.
The Senate voted 95-1 Thursday to confirm Judge Ralph Erickson of Fargo to the St. Louis-based court as the successor to Kermit E. Bye, who retired last year.
Erickson, nominated by President Trump in June, has served in various judicial positions for nearly a quarter of a century and has been a federal district judge since 2003.
