(Neb)-Chadron PD Investigating Vehicle Thefts

By: John Axtell Posted at: 08/29/2017 11:45 PM
CHADRON - The Chadron Police Department is urging residents to lock their vehicles and take out valuables after a string of thefts of and from vehicles Thursday and Friday nights.

Lt. Rick Hickstein says in addition to items from from inside vehicles, the theft spree included two dirt bikes, a pickup and a utility trailer. One vehicle has been recovered, but still missing is a silver 2000 Chevy Silverado pickup with Nebraska license plate 61416R.

The stolen vehicles had keys readily available within them, and Hickstein says items were taken from both locked and unlocked vehicles. That's why he recommends taking everything of value that's possible out of a parked vehicle and to hide or cover any valuable items that must be left in it.

The suspects remain at large and Hickstein is asking the public to contact the Chadron Police Department if they have any information on the thefts. They can call the police state at 308-432-0510 or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 308-432-0519.
