(SD)-Man Rescued From Pactola Reservoir Dies In Hospital
RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - The Pennington County Sheriff's Office says a Rapid City man rescued from Pactola Reservoir Monday afternoon in critical condition died later at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
36-year old Jerome Dillon had been swimming with family and friends near the Pactola visitors center on Highway 385 when he went under the water and disappeared.
Pennington County deputies and the county dive team were dispatched to Pactola, but officers from South Dakota Game, Fish, and Parks and the U-S Forest Service were able to pull the man from the water and peform CPR before the others arrived..
Dillon was then taken to the hospital, where he died. His death has been ruled an apparent drowning and no autopsy will be conducted.
