(Neb)-Chadron Man Jailed For Bat Attack
CHADRON - A Chadron man faces 2 felony charges for allegedly attacking another man with a baseball bat Wednesday night. 27-year old Daris Top Bear was arrested for 2nd-degree assault and felony use of a deadly weapon. Top Bear is in the Dawes County Jail on $10,000 bail.
Chadron police officer Matthew Freeman says police were called to Chadron Community Hospital early Wednesday evening after a man came into the emergency room and told hospital staff he'd been hit with a baseball bat.
Freeman says the victim gave officers Top Bear's name and description, but a search for him was unsuccessful. Officers were able to locate witnesses and get statements from them.
That allowed Freeman to obtain a search warrant for Top Bear's residence on Thursday. He was home and after officers seized a baseball ball, Top Bear was arrested and taken to the jail.
