(SD)-"Person Of Interest" Detained In Summerset Homicide
STURGIS, S.D. (AP) - What authorities describe as "a person of interest" has been detained in connection with the death early Wednesday morning of a woman in the Interstate 90 town of Summerset, west of Rapid City.
Meade County Sheriff Ron Merwin says officers dispatched to a mobile home park just before 2:30 a-m. discovered the body of 49-year-old Phyllis Mastin.
Merwin says it's being handled as a homicide, with the manager of the mobile home park telling the Rapid City Journal that he was told the woman in custody was Mastin's roommate...a detail Merwin won't confirm.
The manager, 59-year old Craig Price, told the paper that Mastin was "a nice tenant" who never generated a single complaint to him and had lived in the park about 7 years.
Meade County Sheriff's Office and Summerset Police Department are continuing the investigation, assisted by the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation
