(SD)-CSC Senior's Proposal Extravaganza Pays Off
RAPID CITY, S.D. - One Chadron State College senior proposed to another Monday in Rapid City in a very public way. Zander Casillas popped the question to Courtney Lyon at Main Street Square with a flash mob dance routine that had more than 20 young dancers from the Hot Shots dance studio performed a routine to the song "Marry You" by Bruno Mars.
The proposal was captured by professional videographer, with Casillas telling Black Hills FOX-TV that he'd spent two months preparing it because he " wanted to do something extravagant, something big, something memorable that she'll remember for the rest of her life."
Casillas said he wanted the proposal to be as special as Lyon, with the video allowing them to be able to show their kids and grandkids...giving them something they can remember as well."
Lyon admitted she was completely surprised and really shocked because when the dancers and the song began, she didn't think it had anything to do with them because Casillas kept walking around and that whatever he'd planned for the day was still to come.
Debbie Ellerton with the Hot Shots told Black Hills Fox it was obvious Lyon had no idea until the music slowed at the end and Casillas came out with an umbrella and proposed. Ellerton says it was fun for the dancers with the "little girls" loving it and even the few boys involved seeming to appreciate it as well.
The 22-year old Casillas, originally from Phoenix, Arizona, and Lyon, who hails from Grant, Nebraska, say they haven't set a date for the wedding yet, but would like to get married soon.
