(Neb)-41st Fur Trade Days Wrapping Up Today
CHADRON - Chadron's 41st annual Fur Trade Days Celebration in Chadron and 4th annual Trading Stories Indian Film Festival conclude today with a number of activities still to go.
There are the conclusions of the Cal Ripken Baseball and Rob Brown Memorial Coed Softball Tournaments, the Friends of God at the Courthouse Gazebo from 9-10:15 followed there by a Camp Meeting and Hymn Sing with historical musician Paul Siebert.
Ending the downtown events is the MTG Hour of Devastation Prerelease Tournament at EJ's BBQ.
There are also two events at Chadron State Park put on by the Chadron Kiwanis Club: the inaugural Disc Golf Challenge at 1 p.m followed by the Kiwanis Fur Trade Regatta canoe race at 3 p.m.
Both are free with prizes for the winners. Registration for each will at the park's lagoon shelter 30 minutes prior to start with canoes and life vests provided.
The Disc Golf Challenge on the park's newly-expanded 18-basket course will have a shotgun start. Participants are encouraged to bring their own discs, but some will be available for rental at the park Trading Post.
The Regatta, open to ages 12 and up, features 1-lap head-to-head races around the lagoon between teams of 2. The 2 teams with the fastest times in the preliminaries will square off for the finals.
Chadron State Park will also provide free paddleboat rides before and after the canoe races, and donations to the Kiwanis Club for its support of various children's causes in the community will be appreciated.
