(Neb)-Fur Trade Days Schedule Continues To Grow Listen
CHADRON - It's full steam ahead today for the 41st annual Fur Trade Days Celebration in Chadron as the Traders' Market opens at noon on the courthouse lawn and historical musician Paul Siebert returns for a second year with a series of programs from 1-4:00 at the courthouse gazebo.
Later, there are kids activities at the courthouse from 5-7:00 while at 6:00 at the Gazebo it's the Historic Fur Trade Flag Ceremony followed by another performance by Siebert.
There are several events from the courthouse, including talks and demonstrations of mountain man skills at the Museum of the Fur Trade at 10:00 and 2:00 by John Carson, the great-grandson of mountain man, trapper, and scout Kit Carson, and tours of Chadron High School and Middle School between 2:00 and 5:00.
Fur Trade Days head honcho and Northwest Nebraska Development Director Kristina Harter is excited about the return of 2 events - the Classics in the Park Car Show at Wilson Park and the Ranch Rodeo at the Fairgrounds, the latter not only back but with 3 performances over 2 days.
Classics in the Park, which move to the week after Fur Trade Days last year, has pre-registration today starting at 5:00, followed by a short, informal cruise that will leave Wilson Park at 6:00 and end at The Ridge for no-host hamburgers.
Registration tomorrow begins at 8:00 with Show and Shine in the park from 11-4:00 and the awards presentations at 3:00.
