(Neb)-"Trading Stories" Film Festival Continues Listen
CHADRON - The 4th annual Trading Stories Native American Film Festival continues at the Chadron Public Library and continues to emphasize other aspects of American Indian culture as well.
This morning saw a demonstration of an Indian game that's evolved into a professional sport in North American - lacrosse - by the Native Futures Lacrosse Team, and a concert with Native American flute performer and maker Michael Murphy, who will also offer a flute-making workshop at 2:00.
Library Director Rosella Tesch is excited to also be bringing in award-winning hoop dancer Garan Coons for a 5:00 performance. Tesch says one of the nicest things about a program on dance by Coons is that he educates the audience on the meaning of the dance.
Wrapping up the evening at 7:00 will be a documentary on competitive Native American dancing The Business of Fancy Dancing, and the director waived the royalties to allow the festival to show it for free.
Trading Stories runs through Sunday.
